Best of 2014: You want to know about paying off your mortgage

2014 turned out to be a big year for Change the Race with the publishing of Mortgage Free! in 3

Mortgage Free! in 3 has been well-received and I look forward to making it available to you for the low price of $9.95 for at least the next month.  It's not easy to put yourself out there with a book that is based heavily on personal experience, but so far no one has written to tell me how much they hated the book.  In fact, very much the opposite has occurred.  Thank you to all of those who have shared how much you have appreciated and enjoyed the book!

I'd like for those of you that have not made the decision to pay off your mortgage (if you have one) to do some soul-searching as to why you haven't committed yet. You certainly don't need my book to do that, although I did write it to help you along the way.

Seriously - why not commit to paying off your mortgage?  What's holding you back? If you know why you don't want to commit to paying off the mortgage, do me a favor and shoot me an email explaining why.  I'd like think about how I can address those concerns in the upcoming year.

I also found that there is a lack of blogs available for women my age and younger who are serious about becoming financially independent.  So I've started trying to include more content that I wish I had known about when I was a few years younger and hope you find it useful as well.  (Guys, a lot of the content here can certainly be useful for you, you just may not always relate to the talking points and examples.)

Okay, so you are probably waiting for those top blog posts of the year.  Here they are in order of most page views.

  1. Do you know how to pay your mortgage off in 3 years or less? This is no surprise.  I'm glad that this is the most popular post because it means that people want to know how to be truly debt-free and have the security of owning a home.
  2. Mr. Money Mustache isn't writing for all the ladies This was a fun post to write.  Mr. Money Mustache is one reason why I started to focus more on writing for women like me.  There are lots of guys writing about financial independence and not much out there that takes women's concerns and perspectives into consideration.
  3. One way to cut an expense but not your lifestyle. I love no-contract mobile providers.  They are in the business of offering a no-frills service and competing on price.  We still use StraightTalk and have no plans to switch back to a traditional carrier for my husband's phone.

If you find any of these posts helpful, I'd greatly appreciate you sharing them.  And if you are new here, I highly suggest you sign up for the newsletter.  You'll be the first to receive new updates!

I can't wait to start the journey of 2015 with you.  Would you leave a comment sharing which blog post was your favorite for the year?
